Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group
The Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group (TWFSG) was formed in Mpartnwe (Alice Springs) on Arrente Country in the Northern Territory of Australia. The group arose from of a need identified by Town Camp residents for women’s voices and action on family and domestic violence issues.
In my role as Design & Content Lead at The Equality Institute (EQI), I worked alongside the women’s group on various projects from 2021-23, strengthening EQI’s partnership with TWFSG.
As part of this, I co-facilitated a social media capacity-building workshop for members of the group; developed illustrations of the women for their sold-out Central Australian Feminist Icons tee shirt and across social media; used the Rante-rante ampe Marle Urreye! report* findings to design and develop violence prevention posters, an animation, social media tiles, and a report campaignsummary for the community; and designed and developed a NAIDOC Week campaign.
